Official Georgetown County criminal records must come from the public office that created or filed them. The Sheriff's Office, Detention Center, court clerks, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and city police departments each keep different material. The contacts below route court files, police reports, bookings, state checks, and expungement applications to their proper custodians in Georgetown, the county seat.

This Is Not a Government Office. This privately operated reference resource cannot retrieve or certify criminal records, perform an official background check, correct or remove an agency record, or receive an expungement application.

Need an Official Record?

Match each Georgetown County request to the office responsible for that record:

  • Court case files: use Georgetown County criminal court cases or ask the clerk of the General Sessions, Magistrate, or Municipal court that heard the matter
  • County incident and arrest reports: contact the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office for events investigated by county deputies
  • Booking and jail records: contact Georgetown County Detention Center at 2394 Browns Ferry Road, Georgetown, SC 29440, 843-545-3400
  • State criminal histories and official name checks: use the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Criminal Justice Information Services and SLED CATCH
  • Police reports: request the report from the city police department or other agency whose officer created it
  • Expungement: contact the Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor's Georgetown office at the Judicial Center, 843-545-3169, weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For current South Carolina prison custody, use the South Carolina Department of Corrections and its SCDC Incarcerated Inmate Search. Public sex offender information comes from the South Carolina Public Sex Offender Registry, known as SORT, which SLED manages with local sheriff updates.
